The following chambers are presently being utilized by
the Institute of Naval Medicine for treating cases
requiring Hyperbaric therapy and also for conducting
Research in Diving, Submarine and Hyperbaric Medicine:
(a) Monoplace Research Chamber:- Roberto Galeazzi Ltd,
A Spezia, Italy. Established in 1976 (Test Pressure
.37.5 Kg/Cm2, E.P. 25 kg/Cm2)
(b) Multiplace Sat Dive Research Chamber: - Set up and
commissioned in 1982. This chamber was extensively
used for training of divers in saturation diving and
hyperbaric oxygen therapy (Test Pressure 40 Kg/Cm2,
working Pressure 30 kg/Cm2).
(c) Environmental research hyperbaric chamber and a
mobile hyperbaric (TUP) chamber sanctioned by DRDO at
a cost of Rs 1.6 crores. Likely to be commissioned at
INM by end 2004

7. Marine Medical Society
To promote the science and art of marine and
hyperbaric medicine by stimulating research, study and
dissemination of knowledge, Marine Medical Society was
formed in 1976 at Institute of Naval Medicine. The
Marine Medical Society conducted its annual conference
on Marine and allied Medicine in Oct/Nov. The Marine
Medical Society also publishes Journals biannually.
This journal publishes on articles relating to Diving,
Submarine, hyperbaric and other medical specialties
