RELIEF ASSISTANCE PROVIDED BY INDIAN NAVY
On an average, a total of 6 ships, 2 helicopters and 2 fixed wing aircraft of the Indian Navy are engaged in the Tsunami rehabilitation operations. In addition, the naval bases located near the Tsunami hit areas have been rendering immense contribution towards expediting the process of restoring normalcy. Over 800 Indian Naval personnel are committed to these operations.

Great Nicobar Island
Rescue Operation
Nine Nicobarese survivors including four women were rescued on 03 Feb 05 while on their way to Campbell Bay from West Coast.
Relief material
INS Gharial off loaded 65 tones of Relief material at Campbell Bay on 31 Jan 05.
Marcos camp
One Prahar of Marcos has left for Galathia river to set up a camp for searching of survivors.
Kamorta
45 tons of relief material was disembarked by INS Gharial and handed over to civil authorities on 01 Feb 05.
Katchal
Vehicles
One JCB, one PWD truck and one BSF truck were landed by MV Pilokunji using pontoon.
Rations
The stock available is adequate and is being augmented ex-Kamorta using dongies. An Additional 10 tons relief stores has been disembarked by INS Gharial on 31 Jan 05.
Terassa
INLCU 34 landed a tractor with trolley and 50 drums of POL on 06 Feb 05.
Carnicobar
The relief supplies are being maintained by Naval and civil ships using the Mus jetty.

Trincomallee
INS Jamuna sucessfully completed its relief mission at Trincomallee.
Galle
Dornier Sortie An IN Dornier ferried essential supplies, four army personnel and equipment to Ratmalana airbase on 31 Jan 05. These personnel have joined the army composite team conducting relief operations at Galle.
Relief Assistance to Maldives (Op CASTOR)
INS Udaygiri sucessfully completed its relief mission at Bolimulah Island (in Mulaku Atoll).
