SURGEON VICE ADMIRAL G RAMDAS, SM, VSM

DGMS (NAVY)

 

1.         Surgeon Vice Admiral G Ramdas, SM, VSM  took over as Director General Medical Services (Navy) on 01 Jul 2010.

 2.         He was commissioned into the AMC on 01 Aug 1973.  An alumnus of AFMC Pune, the Flag Officer did his MBBS in 1973, MS (Gen Surg) in 1982 and M Ch (GE Surg) from MMC, Chennai in 1994.

 3.         Before taking over as DGMS(N), the Flag Officer has held various Command, Staff and Instructional appointments, viz, Comdt 151 Base Hospital, Comdt & CI Officers’ Training College, AMC Centre Lucknow, Dy Comdt Army Hospital (R&R) and Prof of Surg in Command Hospital (Southern Command)..     

4.         For his distinguished services, he has been awarded Chief of the Army Staff Commendation in the years 1986 and 2003, GOC-in-C (Southern Command) Commendation in 1988 and GOC-in-C (Eastern Command) Commendation in 2007.

 5.         He was awarded the Vishishst Seva Medal on Republic Day 1986 and Sena Medal on Republic Day 2010 for his distinguished services of the highest order
